Describe a friend you lost contact with and started contacting again (person)

You should say:

- Who this friend is

- When and Where you met

- What you talked about

- And explain your feelings about the meeting

Sample: 

So now I’m gonna tell you about Minh, a friend of mine with whom I recently reconnected. Actually, he’s Vietnamese, but I always call him by his English name because he says it makes him feel more international.

Minh is now in his late twenties. We’ve known each other for years, and I first met him during high school when we were both in grade 10. I would say he is an incredibly smart and friendly guy. He just landed a job as a software engineer at a tech startup about three months ago. Before that, he studied in Australia for his master's degree, which is why we lost touch for nearly five years.

Well, back then, we got along famously since we shared a lot of interests, especially in gaming and technology. We rarely had arguments, and we saw eye to eye on almost everything. I really valued our friendship until he announced that he would be studying abroad in Australia. I was genuinely sad to hear that. After he settled in Australia, we tried to stay in touch through social media and occasional video calls, but his busy schedule made it hard for us to keep communicating.

Just a month ago, I ran into him at a tech conference in our city. I recognized him immediately because of his stylish glasses. It was such a pleasant surprise! Without hesitation, I rushed over to give him a big hug. He looked equally thrilled and nearly jumped with joy. We spent the entire day chatting and reminiscing about old times. He talked a lot about his experiences studying abroad, his new job, and how he felt bad for not keeping in touch. Of course, I didn’t hold any grudges. Now that he’s back, we often meet up for coffee on weekends. That’s more than enough to revive our friendship.

2. Gorgeous /ˈɡɔː.dʒəs/: xinh đẹp, lộng lẫy

Ví dụ: The bride looked gorgeous.

3. Lose touch with someone /luːz tʌtʃ wɪð/: mất liên lạc với ai đó

Ví dụ:  I lost touch with Katie after she moved to Canada.

4. Have a lot in common /ə lɒt ɪn ˈkɒm.ən/: có nhiều điểm chung

Ví dụ:  Orange trees have a lot in common with grapevines

5. Hardly ever fell out /ˈhɑːd.li ˈev.ər fel aʊt/: chưa từng tranh cãi hay bất hòa

Ví dụ: They hardly ever fell out

6. See eyes to eyes /siː aɪs tuː aɪs/: đồng quan điểm

Ví dụ:  Me and that guy just don't see eyes-to-eyes

7. Hectic schedule: lịch trình bận rộn

Hectic /ˈhek.tɪk/: Bận rộn, tất bật

Schedule  /ˈʃedʒ.uːl/ : lịch trình

Ví dụ: Mr. Vas has a very hectic schedule.

8. Bumped into /bʌmp/ /ˈɪn.tuː/ : bắt gặp một cách tình cờ

Ví dụ: You bumped into me.

9. Burst into tear /bɜːst ˈɪn.tuː teər/: bật khóc

Ví dụ: He burst into tears

10. Rekindle a friendship: Hồi phục một tình bạn.

Ví dụ: After years apart, they managed to rekindle their friendship.

11. Nostalgic: Hoài niệm, gợi nhớ về quá khứ.

Ví dụ: Looking at old photos makes me feel nostalgic.

12. Cherish: Trân trọng, yêu quý.

Ví dụ: I cherish the moments we spent together.

Các ý tưởng và từ vựng trong bài mẫu trên có thể được sử dụng để phát triển câu trả lời cho các chủ đề sau:

1. Why do people lose contact with their friends after graduation?

Gợi ý: make a different decision (đưa ra những quyết định khác nhau), settle down (định cư và ổn định cuộc sống), bury themselves in work (vùi mình vào công việc), lose touch with each other (mất liên lạc với nhau)

2. Do people in your country tend to make new friends?

Gợi ý: form new relationships (hình thành những mối quan hệ mới), an introvert (một người hướng nội), get to know each other (tìm hiểu, làm quen với nhau), hospitable (hiếu khách)
